Can I add freehand calculated field as a filter
Question Asked
Hi !,

I work in Yellowfin 7.0 version. I created a calculated field in report level using Freehand SQL as formula type. But I couldn't add this calculated field as a report filter. Is this possible to do ?

Thanks

Answer
Hi Supun,

It is not currently possible to use a Freehand SQL field as a filter.

There is an existing dev task (TASK # 120543) for this to be considered for a future release.

To use your Freehand SQL Calculated field as a filter, you would have to create it as a Custom Function, or alternatively add it to a Virtual Table at the View level.

Hope this helps you to achieve what you trying to do.

Hi

We are using version 7.1.

Is this TASK # 120543 being considered in a future enhancement; or should I open a new request?

Hi to all

We are facing the same challenge and we are currently in version 7.2.

Can you please inform us of whether or not TASK # 120543 has been included in the upcoming development enhancements?
We find great value in allowing the user to use Freehand SQL fields as filter on report level, since via Freehand SQL the entire set of SQL functionality can be utilized. In our case, we mainly use this option for concatenating text source fields into new ones.

Currently enhancement 120543 hasn't been added to the dev queue unfortunately.
I apologize for the disappointment.

As above, your current best bet is to implement these fields at the view inside a virtual table.

Kind Regards,
Cadell.
